Iron Frontier

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Iron Frontier scratches a very specific itch: small maps, few units, and a real puzzle to solve every turn. You defend a chain of passes against waves that grow smarter as you go. Because your forces are always outnumbered, every move has weight, and terrain becomes your best friend.

The offline campaign has plenty of missions, and each one feels hand-built rather than randomly stitched together. I lost several battles before I understood how the fog and elevation systems worked, and figuring them out was the best part.

It's not a flashy game, but it respects your time. Turns are quick, restarts are instant, and the difficulty ramps at a fair pace. Great for short sessions where you want to think.
